NEW DELHI: Reflecting on India's historic victory at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma shared his nostalgic sentiments on JioHotstar’s special program, "Champions Waali Feeling Phir Se." He fondly remembered the team's journey to the trophy, particularly highlighting the significance of Barbados. "It's the pitch where everything happened! Barbados will forever be in my veins," he exclaimed.

A year has passed since India ended its 17-year T20 World Cup title drought with a thrilling victory over South Africa at the Kensington Oval. The final match was a nail-biting encounter that went down to the wire, with India ultimately holding their composure to secure the championship.
The victory was not just about the final game but the culmination of an undefeated campaign. Throughout the tournament, India displayed dominance, resilience, and strong team character.
One of the most memorable moments was the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan. "It wasn’t just a game," Rohit reminisced. "Two days before the match, we were locked in — tight security, fans everywhere, you could feel something special was coming. It felt like a festival had taken over.”
India prevailed over Pakistan by six runs in a tense, low-scoring affair. Jasprit Bumrah’s exceptional performance, taking 3 wickets for 14 runs, earned him the Player of the Match award.
Despite an early stumble with the bat, losing key wickets quickly, Rishabh Pant’s aggressive 42 off 31 balls stabilized the innings, helping India reach a total of 119.
"On that pitch, his 42 was like scoring 70," Rohit noted. "We knew 140 was par, but with our bowlers, even 119 could work.”
Rohit praised Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh for their excellent execution of the game plan. “Bumrah is a weapon — he takes wickets and dries up runs. Arshdeep’s been brilliant too, and they were crucial in pushing the game in our favour.”
From the electrifying atmosphere of the India-Pakistan match to the intense final in Barbados, Rohit’s reflections are a fitting tribute to a team that created lasting memories for the nation.
