British tennis sensation Emma Raducanu has dismissed speculations linking her romantically to five-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz. The denial came during a pre-Wimbledon press conference where she also confirmed their participation in mixed doubles at the upcoming US Open.
The rumors began swirling after Raducanu was seen supporting Alcaraz during his semi-final match at the HSBC Championships at Queen's Club. Prior to Wimbledon 2025, the pair was observed practicing together, further fueling the speculation.
When directly questioned about the nature of their relationship, Raducanu succinctly stated, "We're just good friends."
As the reporter attempted to move on, Raducanu playfully quipped, "Way to wrap up," adding a touch of humor to the situation.
The two tennis stars recently collaborated in a practice session to prepare for their debut as a mixed doubles team at the US Open.
"It was fun yesterday. We were both on court with Evian, just getting some volley practice ahead of New York. I'm really happy to be playing with him. We had a great time," Raducanu revealed.
She also disclosed that it was Alcaraz who initiated the partnership. "Yes, he asked me. He asked me earlier on in the year, and I was very surprised, honored, and excited," she added.
Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, has faced challenges in maintaining consistent performance since her victory. Her recent appearance at the Eastbourne Open concluded with a defeat to Maya Joint before the quarter-finals.
Alcaraz, since his 2022 US Open win, has continued his ascent in the tennis world, securing multiple major titles.
Fresh off his recent triumph at the HSBC Championships, Alcaraz is preparing to kick off his Wimbledon 2025 campaign against Fabio Fognini of Italy in the first round.
The US Open will mark the beginning of Raducanu and Alcaraz's journey as a mixed doubles team, signaling an exciting new phase in their respective careers.
