Pant Climbs to Career-Best Ranking, Bumrah Remains on Top in Latest ICC Test Rankings
The latest ICC Test rankings showcase significant movement following a week of compelling performances in both Test and T20I cricket. India's Rishabh Pant and England's Ben Duckett are among the biggest gainers, achieving new career-high rankings after remarkable performances in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings following his twin centuries at Headingley. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman scored 134 and 118, becoming only the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower in 2001, to achieve hundreds in both innings of a Test match. Pant is also the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to accumulate 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter in the world, closely followed by his fellow countryman Harry Brook in second place. India’s Shubman Gill has also made progress, climbing five places to 20th after his impressive century in the first innings.
India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah continues to hold the No. 1 position in the ICC Test bowling rankings. His recent five-wicket haul at Headingley further solidifies his dominance in red-ball cricket. England’s Ben Stokes, after strong contributions with both bat and ball, has risen three places to claim the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings, marking his highest position in recent months.
The T20I rankings have also seen movement following the tri-series in Glasgow, which included the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Dutch batter Michael Levitt jumped 16 places to 14th after a series of consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen also made a notable jump, rising 20 spots to joint 38th.
As the ICC rankings continue to reflect individual performances, every run and wicket will play a crucial role in shaping the landscape of cricket.
